(Morris) The Rodmaker

The Rodmaker (1978):  by Scott Mann (Morris’ grandson) and John Roman.

Originally produced as a college film project, The Rodmaker (22 min.) was aired on Detroit Public Television in the early 1980’s.  Unseen by public audiences since then, this personal testament contains footage from Morris’ travels all over the world;  trout fishing in Lake Nipissing, Ontario, sailfishing in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as scenery from Angel Falls, Venezuela.  The film tells the Morris Kushner story from the viewpoint of Scott Mann, Robert Summers (Traverse City, MI rodmaker) and includes Robert Traver’s (author, former supreme court justice) incredible retelling of Chapter 13 from his classic, Trout Magic.

The DVD now includes the full length interviews done with both Robert Traver (25 min.) and Bob Summers (86 min.) in 1977.

"I just bought a copy and really enjoyed the film. Morris reminded me of my own grandad. The interview with Judge Voelker at the cabin is classic. Thanks for offering this little piece.
I am certain to view it from time to time and enjoy it just as much at each viewing."
